The snow is going to stay around for awhile....and the cold air and wind tonight will make it very cold for our state.
A WIND CHILL ADVISORY is in effect for the state. It starts at midnight in central Iowa and continues until 10 AM.
* WINDS...A NORTH WIND AT 15 TO 25 MPH WILL SWITCH TO THE WEST BY
MIDNIGHT THEN SOUTHWEST BY 6AM THURSDAY. THE WIND WILL DIMINISH
SOME THIS EVENING.
* TEMPERATURES/WIND CHILL VALUES...OVERNIGHT LOWS WILL DROP TO
BETWEEN 5 AND 10 BELOW AND COMBINED WITH THE WIND...WIND CHILL
VALUES WILL RANGE FROM 15 TO 25 BELOW THROUGH MID MORNING
THURSDAY.
* IMPACTS...THE COMBINATION OF EXTREME COLD AND STRONG WINDS WILL
RESULT IN FROSTBITE IF EXPOSURE TO OUTSIDE ELEMENTS WITHOUT
PROPER WEATHER CLOTHING LASTS FOR AN EXTENDED PERIOD OF TIME
