The weekend is going to be messy. The mess will come in heavy rainfall and heavy snow.The snow is staying to the northwest of the central Iowa area. Des Moines is going to stay warm enough to keep the umbrellas over your head.
In northwestern Iowa 5 to 7 inches of snow will keep the shovels on the sidewalks and driveways.
There is a winter storm watch for the northwest. The snow will be wet and heavy.
Cold and dry air takes over the rest of the weekend...and most of next week.
